Standard Rates and Other Tax Information
Beginning on Jan. 1, 2018, the standard mileage rates for the use of a car (also vans, pickups or panel trucks) will be:
- 54.5 cents for every mile of business travel driven, up 1 cent from the rate for 2017.
- 18 cents per mile driven for medical or moving purposes, up 1 cent from the rate for 2017.
- 14 cents per mile driven in service of charitable organizations.
Documentation of the total miles and business-related miles for an automobile is required, preferably through the use of an auto mileage log, for vehicles that use either the standard mileage rate or the actual expense method.

Important 2018 Due Dates
Make the fourth payment for 2017 individual estimated tax.
W-2's are due from your employer. Forms 1099 are due from payers of interest, dividends and other specified types of income.
